Jeff Piper - MSA,NHA,LE

After returning from a trip to South Africa, Jeff’s wife, Debbie, became seriously ill. She lost consciousness and slipped into a coma. Debbie saw many specialists over several months but her health continued to deteriorate…then friend, Tom McFarlan called.

The founder of Life Assessment Systems told the Pipers about a technology from Europe that he was using in his London clinic. He asked if they would consider being volunteers at a training session.

Jeff Piper - MSA,NHA,LE

Debbie attended the training session and the couple prayed for answers. After a half hour of testing, they were told she could die – a viral infection was suspected. A protocol was given and Debbie quickly recovered. Jeff was so impressed with this innovative technology that he become a Vitality Assessment technician to help others.
Dr. Carlos Hernandez, B.M.Sc., DC

I was born in El Salvador. In 1993 my family immigrated to Canada where I was introduced to a new form of health care, Chiropractic. During my early years in Canada, I saw my father greatly benefit from chiropractic care. As a teenager, this need for care helped me set a goal to one day become a chiropractor.

I graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2005 with a Bachelors in Medical Science degree. I graduated with honors from New York Chiropractic College in 2009. My goal now is to provide care to as many people in the community as possible.
With my wife and three children, we decided to come to Peterborough, my wife’s home-town, because we like the closeness we have felt in the community.

Dr Carlos Hernandez

During our years at school we always came to Peterborough for different events such as: the Peterborough Fishing Derby, food drives, Buckhorn Craft Festival, the festival of lights, etc. We hope to be a resource in the community.
Jennifer Oomen
Massage Therapist

Jennifer Oomen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 1999. She went on to complete the Massage Therapy Program at Centennial College in 2002. Jen is a member of her professional association and takes ongoing continuing education courses that focus on her clients’ current needs. She believes in empowering her clients to take responsibility for their health, and enjoys being a partner with them on their journey towards wellness.

Jen shares her love of massage as a Teaching Assistant at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Since 2006 she has taught in the ‘Soft Tissue Manipulation’ and ‘Hydrotherapy’ courses, where she is well liked and respected by colleagues and students.
Maria Lausmaa-Gabriel

Keeping her practices very local, Jen has focused on building connections with clients and their families. She worked for ten years at a Premier Spa of Ontario, and became HealthWinds’ senior therapist and trainer for specialty treatments. Jen enjoys treating a variety of clientele, and also worked in two multidisciplinary clinics, while maintaining her busy home practice.

Although born and raised in Toronto, Jen has always felt a connection to the Kawarthas. For years she would visit her Aunt and Uncle’s cottage on Mississauga Lake. Her mother was born in Peterborough and her Grandfather was the Golf Pro at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club for 12 years. A tree and plaque on the 8th green commemorate his contribution. To live in Peterborough and work with the team at the Kawartha Family Clinic feels like things have come full circle.

Jamie Snider

Jamie Snider is a heart-filled, spirited individual from Peterborough County who promotes self-care through client-centered massage. Jamie has spent the last 13 years studying and working in Toronto and surrounding areas. He draws from a multitude of different therapies (including ultrasound, advanced taping, mindfulness meditation, and medical professional level first aid) in order to provide a truly holistic approach for each individual. His belief in self-awareness leading to a positive attitude is shown in his teachings towards a healthy and attuned lifestyle, as he brings his clients to a greater state of body awareness and well-being.

Jamie was the first OAC student to do a physiotherapy Co-op under the trainer of OHL’s Peterborough Pete’s. At Sir Sanford Fleming College his focus was the Rehabilitation Assistant program- a cross between Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy.
Carrie Althorpe, RMT

While completing the Massage Therapy program at Centennial College he became the Director of Health Sciences in his first year, and later became the Campus Director of CCSAI. During his three years at Centennial Jamie was awarded the Spirit award and the Centennial Bronze award for dedicated service.
As a Registered Massage Therapist Jamie has worked at several multi-disciplinary clinics, and has taught in a variety of locations in Toronto including CDI College and Elmcrest College. He has also maintained a loyal following in his home-based practice, and when he is not there he can be found at his second home as Jujitsu Canada’s resident Therapist based in Peterborough.

Jamie’s heart & soul has always been in the Kawartha’s, and he is excited to return to begin this new adventure at the Kawartha Family Clinic with his fiancée Jen. Jen looks forward to the start of this new chapter in her life, and to begin at Kawartha Family Clinic feels like a perfect fit!
